Great news - Gemini tested negative for larval heart worms this week. She will need another heart worm test in May to check that she is clear, but she is essentially recovered. She will also need to be spayed in four weeks, but she is medically cleared for adoption!
Gemini seems to enjoy interacting with people more than other dogs. She is tolerant of most dogs, but will correct, corral, and impose upon other dogs, especially if they get excited or anxious. She tends to stare and show intense interest in other dogs when on walks and generally is fine with them. But she can hackle up and has to be corrected when she gives other dogs the whale eye.
Gemini is a lovely dog with people and looks forward to long walks with her humans now that she has gotten over her heartworms. She is nearly perfect in the house, having had only a couple of accidents over the three months she has been here.
Gemini cannot go to a home with cats or dogs under 25 pounds. As a result, she will need a home with a confident leader or leaders who will keep her mentally stimulated with obedience and activity.
Gemini absolutely loves children of all ages. She will roll over for belly rubs and give them kisses. Gemini is a medium-energy dog, spending much of her time on the landing of the stairs or relaxing on the couch.
She will make an excellent companion for a confident family who enjoys a happy, calm canine.
