My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BACKGROUND: Springer came to us after his owners dropped him at a local shelter because He tested positive for heartworms. He is 5-1/2 years old, but plays like he's 2! He loves to watch squirrels in the yard, and will run from tree to tree hunting for them. Springer also LOVES to play ball, Frisbee and anything else he can run and play with. He gets along well with other dogs. He has a little bit of a snippy attitude, but we are finding out that he just needs a lot of patience, love and positive reinforcement. Springer is doing very well and is thriving in rescue.

SPECIAL ISSUES: Springer does have some baggage where someone must have taunted or teased him in his past. He will sometimes snap (not bite) if startled or grabbed. For this reason, we will not place Springer in a home with children. We are working with Springer, and his behavior has improved 1,000% since he has been in rescue. He will need adopters with patience and understanding, who will continue to work with him as we have. Springer also tested a very light-positive for heartworms, so he is on a Doxycycline regimen daily, along with regular Heartgard heartworm preventative.
