Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Oprah Whisker and Miss Thang were rescued from a hoarding situation in Staten Island, along with other guinea pigs and hamsters. Skittish and untrusting to start, the young girls (7-8 months old) took a few days to adjust to our foster homes and slowly show us who they really are.
The ladies were initially confused by their playpen time, and looked for any and all hiding spots, only venturing out when no one was close by. With patience and a regularly scheduled routine of out-of-cage time, they quickly became confident enough to stay in the open longer and longer, and have even started to appreciate being hand fed and groomed.
Oprah Whisker is an American guinea pig, brown and white colored. She affectionate, trusting, and likes being hand feed and petted.
Miss Thang is an Abyssinian guinea pig, mostly white & black/gray color. She loves her sister Oprah dearly, and follows her step-by-step. While very vocal and opinionated, she does not like being being picked up, and will actively try to escape while in your lap.
Adoptable as a PAIR ONLY, the girls have been seen by our vet, and are deemed in good health.
And if interested in meeting and adopting, contact us at adopt@emptycagescollective.org.
Experienced adopters preferred.

*Please note- Guinea pigs are incredibly social creatures that thrive in pairs or groups, and we never really know about their true personalities until they are living among other members of their species. Empty Cages aims to respect their natural bonds, so we only adopt guinea pigs in pairs, or to homes that already have one or more.
