Hi - I’m Otto and I’m between 10 and 12 years old.
I was taken from a home with my two GSP sisters because we were not being cared for – not even the basics like food and water. The shelter contacted rescue and even though we were the “three musketeers”, we had to be split up to find our new homes. We were ok with this news because we all knew our lives were going to be SO much better. Check out my blog to see updates and new pictures: www.egspcrpotto.blogspot.com.
I’ve been in foster care since I arrived. There’s lots of action in this home with two other dogs and three people. I’ve fit right in from the beginning and feel like I’ve been here forever.
I get along with other dogs and love people of all ages. I’m very affectionate and love attention.
I love to play with toys and chew bones – but BY FAR my favorite is the stuffed Hedge Hog. At this house we have them in all sizes and I always know where I left them and can find them in an instant. I’m not destructive with toys, but love to chomp and shake – you know, show them who’s boss!
I travel well in the car, love to go on errands and when I’m traveling long distance, I even have a seat belt for safety.
I’m housebroken and don’t like a crate. I get free roam in my foster home and there have never been any issues. I’m really lucky because I get to travel with this foster family. I go to visit the beach and the bay. I’m good at either of those houses too. I adjust quickly and never have any problems. Give me a dog bed, some good company and a little exercise and I’m one happy fella.
Even though I’m older, I’m still rather active. I love walks and always do 1.5 miles a day plus some shorter ones throughout the day. I walk very well on a leash as I’m never in a rush. In side, I’m rather mellow and just like to lounge around or play with my toys.
I’m also a quiet guy. I don’t talk much - I’ve been here since May and I’ve never barked once. I figure things are so good, what is there to complain about???
After reading my story and everything about me, you are probably wondering why there is a “heart” listed by my name on Petfinder. I’ll bet you’d never guess as most people who meet me are very surprise – I’m blind. Yep I can’t see a thing, but with my other senses (touch, smell and hearing), I get around just fine on my own. Initially I needed a bit of direction, but like I said, I can go from house to house and adjust just fine – stairs are not even an issue. Once you show me where to get my meals, where the water is, some cozy spots to lie and some fun toys to play with, I just remember. I’m pretty amazing, I know this because my foster family tells me all the time. Usually they forget I’m blind because I seem just like their other dogs.
I think a home with another dog or someone who is home much of the day would be best for me as I like company. I’ve learned that the other two musketeers have found their own FOREVER homes. I’m so happy my sisters got new families of their own. Now it’s my turn. I love it here, but I want my own family too. The holidays are coming and while I just celebrated one with my foster family (check out my blog picture), I’d rather celebrate the others with my own family. This is my wish for this holiday season.
