Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi! My name is Lily Bell & I just turned 4 yrs old in September. I just came into the EGSPC rescue program because my dad got sick & my family didn't have time for me anymore. I miss them but things aren't so bad here at all. You see, I lived my whole life outside in a very small pen with a doghouse. Now I'm inside the house with my foster parents, 2 foster sisters that look like me, toys, treats, comfy dog beds & a whole lotta love. I must say, I sure am glad I won't be spending this winter out in the cold!
Update March 1, 2010 - Lily was adopted through our program in October of last year but is unfortunately coming back to rescue. She is still as sweet as ever but has proven to be more than her adoptive family can handle.
She is a high energy girl & needs LOTS of exercise, mental stimulation and would love some more training too. She gets regular walks on leash & daily romps in the yard, both of which she really enjoys, but with both parents working full time they don't have the ability to exercise her enough or challenge her mentally. She will do best with a very active family that has lots of time to devote to her & will make her a big part of their lives.
It would be ideal if she had a job or purpose of some kind. Regular training to learn new tricks would be great to work her active mind. She would probably also enjoy being an agility dog which would be wonderful to meet her high energy needs. She has a high prey drive so a hunting home would be great as well but she'll need a good amount of training before she can be trusted off leash.
She does know how to settle down at night & really loves to snooze (she snores:) and snuggle on the couch, so it would be great if her new family will allow this.
My foster parents and everyone I meet says I'm a really sweet girl. I like all the doggies & people I meet and I only jump up on them a little cause I get really excited with all this attention I never had before. My manners are pretty good too. I sit down before its time to eat or to wait for the gate to open. Lots of times I also sit so the people will pet me. I guess they don't like to pet me when I'm acting too crazy..I just can't help it though cause I'm a happy girl!! I don't really jump up on the counters much at all and I listen really well when told not to do something. They say I'll be easy to train, whatever that means. They also say how well I'm doing with housebreaking...I could have told them that. I used to keep my kennel run really clean so this housebreaking stuff is a snap! Its been 2 days & I haven't had any accidents inside. And the more I gain their confidence the more rooms in the house I get to see. I bet in a few days I'll know every room in the house.
I really like being inside and I don't mind my crate at all. It helps me to calm down & regroup when I get too excited. I usually just fall asleep in there. My foster mom says she can hear me snoring from the next room while I'm napping. It must be because I've never had such a cozy comforter to sleep on in my whole life. I think they're spoiling me and I like it:). I like to run and play with my foster sisters. We get to play with fluffy toys too which I really like....they squeek!! I much prefer toys to stinky shoes or other non dog stuff. They have a basket here with lots of different things to play with that are just for us dogs, its GREAT!!
Well, that's all I can say about me for now. Its playtime!!! I'll write more later.
I'd really love to make someone fall in love with me and have a family all my own, so won't you be mine?
If you are interested in adopting me, please email the rescue volunteers at GSPrescueNJ@hotmail.com and ask for an adoption application.
