Toby
11-13 years young
Black Lab/Mix (Pit Bull- think)
Current living conditions: My owners passed away and I am still living in the home and being taken care of every day but not always getting the attention and exercise I need and deserve. I very much enjoy playing, going on walks, treats and my sleep!
Where I came from: I was adopted out of a shelter by my owners who passed away. As they got older, so did I. I wasn’t taken on walks or spent much time with; hardly any attention was paid to me, until they passed away. Now my caretaker, she does a lot with me. She has taught me that there is more to life than sleeping. We go on walks, she lets me do things that dogs do and she plays with me. Her visits are never long enough and I miss her, but she is doing her best to find a companion that will be able to continue what she shares with me along with more that she can’t do, like let me out several times a day to roll around and play more.
My Quirks: My current caretaker is not sure if I am a fan of being around other animals yet,… she’s working on that. I do not, at all, like thunderstorms. I sense them coming and have been given a pill to help with my anxiety in the past before my owners passed away. I feel so much better in my crate when that time comes, but don’t want to be in it any other time. I like the chair that I sleep in with a blanket on it. I love walks but not too far, because I am old. I can do one big block and that’s about it, I get really thirsty. I am very friendly, I love to lean up against you to feel safe and to let you know everything is good. I am an inside dog. If you let me out I will use the bathroom and when I am done, I will bark till you let me in if you lock me out. If you come out with me, we can be out there all day!
Health: All shots up to-day (thanks to AARF) and have a good bill of health. Few “Fat pockets” and skin tags on my body but otherwise, attractive with a few manly grey hairs. I can be a bit clumsy when I get excited and my legs give out, but I will get right back up, I’m no spring chicken. I may be deaf; however my caretaker is not 100% convinced, she says I have selective hearing.
