Here's what the humans have to say about me:
PAX was one of 8 (or more) dogs that appeared to come from the same home, who were literally discarded on a rural road in the East Bay. They took refuge down an embankment and were gradually coaxed by people and picked up one by one. PAX however was reluctant to go to anyone, and so we set a humane trap for her and she was hungry enough to go into the trap.
She is nervous with new people, but very sweet and affectionate with those she trusts. She is comfortable with other dogs, but is not comfortable with dogs who overwhelm her. When she finds a dog she like to play with, it is really sweet to see. She is adventurous, loves hiking, and true to her dachshund self is fascinated by hunting (though not catching) gophers! Her innate nervousness means that she needs to be in a an adult home where doors or windows are not left open by accident.
An experienced dog owner would be best. This little dog, who is under 2 years old and weighs about 8 - 10 pounds, will reward you with loyalty and affection.
