Marlin came to us from a local shelter about 18 months ago and had no trouble making himself part of the family. It took him about a week before he felt comfortable enough to wander the house during the daytime, but after that it was like he had lived here his whole life. He tends to be shy around strangers and likes to watch from a safe spot for a bit before making himself known. Marlin is friendly with our dog (middle-aged lab) and doesn't care about the children unless they are playing with him. He is still young enough that it is easy to get him into a playful mood, but old enough that he is starting to enjoy cuddling more and attacking feet less. He still has his claws but has never damaged anything and enjoys his scratching post with the cardboard insert. He is strictly an indoor cat and tends to be afraid of open doors, but we still had him micro chipped just in case. He is housebroken and uses the litter box and has never made a mess in the house.
