My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Little Poco was brought into our clinic last year because he had been hit by a car. He had a fractured pelvis but a fighting spirit full of life. When he was hit by the car, he had probably been run over, resulting in not only the multiple pelvic fractures we knew about from xrays, but also the displacement and twisting of his bladder. His bladder had actually been pushed through the broken pelvis, was displacing his colon and rectum and became obstructed. As a result, his kidneys began failing rapidly. He needed emergency surgery the day before we were leaving.

Poco could not travel home with us and his life was hanging in the balance. He was in critical care with fluid therapy and kidney support supplements for days while we waited to hear news. Dr. Hugo said he needed a miracle. We gave him a chance at that miracle and several weeks later, Poco had made a near complete recovery. He remained in the care of one of our dear friends in Manzanillo, and now he is a healthy, happy and bouncy boy who walks with a little bit of a limp.

Now this miracle boy needs a home. We had a home lined up for him last year, but when he could not travel with us and we could not find a travel escort for him to come to the States, we lost that home. Poco is about 2 1/2 years old and about 14lbs. He is playful, affectionate and loves being around people though is sometimes fearful of strangers. He is vaccinated, sterilized, housetrained, does well with other dogs and cats. Probably not recommended for a home with children.
