Here's what the humans have to say about me:
I came to Friends of Penny from a shelter in Richmond, VA. Not much is known about my history. I came into the shelter because my previous owners did not take care of me and just kept me tied outside. There are some bald spots on my neck from where my collar was embedded, but it’s healing and my hair is slowly starting to grow back. I had a guardian angel at the shelter who knew that I had the potential to be a great dog and loyal companion for someone special. You see my guardian angel contacted FOP and helped to get me into rescue. If it hadn’t been for her, I might not have had a chance at a new life, but thanks to my guardian angel and FOP that has all changed now.
You see, I am heartworm positive, and even though I don’t act it, I am one sick little guy, but thanks to my friends at FOP, I will get the treatment that I need so that I can be healthy boy and live a good life. However, even though I am a sick boy… I still am full of life and energy! In fact, my foster mom says that I am 100% min pin. The Doctor says I have to rest… it is what’s best for me right now… but all I want to do is run and play with my foster mom. I get so excited to see her that my whole body shakes and wiggles all over!
I am also working on my manners and my housebreaking. I have already learned to sit very nicely for a treat in just 4 short days. I know exactly what to do when I go outside and don’t waste any time, but since I am not neutered yet, I do sometimes try to mark inside the house. My foster mom thinks this behavior will stop once I am neutered. I hope she’s right because I want to be a good boy, but sometimes I just can’t help myself. I wear belly bands in the house, and this helps.
I would also love to sit in your lap…you see I never got much of an opportunity to do that before and I love it. I really am an affectionate little guy and once I’ve decided your okay, then we’re best buds. I seem to get along pretty well with my foster brothers and sisters, but I definitely want to be the alpha male. I also have to tell you that I don’t like the cat in my foster home, so my foster mom doesn’t think I should have any cats in my furever home. I must tell you though that I am a typical min pin and feel that I need to protect my “people” and “territory” fearlessly. My foster mom really thinks that I am all bark…but I sure can put on quite a show. Because I have such a “strong personality,” can be very protective, and have so much energy, my foster mom thinks I would do better in a home that has prior min pin or dog experience. Also, since I have never really been around children, she thinks its best that if my new furever home has children, they are ages 12 and up.
Before I can go to my furever home, I will need to go through heartworm treatment. Prior to going through heartworm treatment, I will be neutered, micro-chipped, and brought up to date on all my vaccinations. I will go through my heartworm treatment very soon; and even though I hear it’s going to be very hard on me, I can’t wait to be healthy again so that I can start my new life, with my new family. Could you be my new family?
Until then, I have to plead with each and every one of you that is reading this: the treatment FOP is providing me with will save my life; but it is not cheap. My foster mom says I am worth every penny; but I know I have to try to get some help because my other furbrothers and sisters here at FOP all need veterinary care! Would you consider being my angel and donating towards my vet costs?
If you interested in me, don’t forget to mention my name, NORMAN, when you’re filling out your application. If you have any questions about me, or would like some further information, please contact my foster mom at megan@rescueminpins.com.
