Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This good-looking guy is Snoopy! He's a Domestic Short Hair who's neutered, current on his vaccinations, litter box trained and is FIV+. He's a friendly boy who hasn't been around children or dogs so we're not sure how he is with them but he might like a feline friend after slow introductions.
Snoopy was in Animal Control for a year and is enjoying life in his foster home! A sweet boy, he's very cuddly, loves sitting in laps, and will keep you warm on chilly days. He can't get enough attention and will let you love on him all day & night. His favorite time of day is relaxing with his foster mom, curled up on her lap and watching tv together. Snoopy is very good-looking with the most beautiful eyes that will steal your heart, a sweet face and very soft fur that makes petting him soothing to both you and him!
A mellow cat with a fun-loving side, Snoopy's favorite activities are chasing laser lights and playing with toys. He doesn't play with the other cats in his foster room - they're in another room - but he does sit & watch them. He might get along well with other cats with slow introductions as cats don't make friends very quickly.
If you'd like to give this big, handsome guy the love & stable home he's looking for, please fill out an Adoption Application at https://form.jotform.com/32098523410145.
Pound Pets, Inc. Adoption Process:
* Adoption Applications must be filled out before meeting a pet.
* We perform reference checks & vet checks. Letting them know we're calling speeds up the process.
* Once approved, you can set up a meet & greet with a pet from Granite City Animal Control or a foster home.
* If it's a good fit, we then do a home visit where you sign our Adoption Contract & pay the adoption fee, and welcome your new pet home!
* Adoption fees are $80 for cats.
* All cats are fully vetted including spay or neuter, vaccinations, microchip, and tested for FIV/FeLV.
* Some of our cats have FIV, which is short for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. It's a virus that slowly affects a cat's immune system over time. Cats can live long, healthy lives without any symptoms as long as they're kept healthy, are put on a good diet, and are not let outside to roam. FIV is not contagious and can't be spread to humans or canines nor is it spread to other cats through food bowls, litter boxes or cuddling & playing. The only way FIV is transmitted is through blood transfusions, badly infected gums or deep bite wounds, which are usually only given by stray, unaltered tomcats. It's a newer virus and many vets aren't fully educated on it yet so we suggest doing a little research on it if you're concerned. We have FIV+ cats in our homes & foster homes, with other cats & without, and they're the same as any other cat - they need to be kept healthy.

Pound Pets, Inc. is a small, 501(c)3 non-profit rescue that is ran by volunteers and is foster home based. PPI runs Granite City Animal Control and some of our pets reside there until they're fostered or adopted through PPI or another rescue pulls them.
Foster Homes are the backbone of PPI and are always needed! If you'd like to be a part of our Foster Team, please learn more about it at http://www.poundpetsinc.com/foster-homes-needed.html
Volunteers are vital for running Animal Control plus helping the rescue run smoothly. Animal Control Volunteers clean the building & provide the dogs & cats with clean kennels, beds, blankets, toys, treats, outside play time, walks & human interaction. We try to comfort the scared, keep the high-energy ones exercised and provide plenty of love & affection to make their time at animal control as less stressful as possible.
Rescue Volunteers are needed to help at adoption events, to transport, help fundraise, write grants, graphics design, network adoptable pets, network pets in AC who need rescue, participate in community outreach, assist us at our pet food pantry and various other duties.
If you'd like to join our Volunteer Team, please fill out an application at
https://form.jotform.com/40307066949156
Barn Homes are always needed! We take in many feral cats who wouldn't like living in a home and would be happiest in a barn home, which provides shelter & food. These homes still need to go through our adoption process but the fee is waived. Please fill out an application at https://form.jotform.com/32098523410145 if you'd like to help some feral cats.

Licensed Rescues are needed to pull animals from Granite City Animal Control, which is very small. We also save the FIV+ cats, but we don't have a lot of room for all the incoming strays. There are no fees for a rescue to pull a dog or cat. If you can help us, please email us at poundpetsinc@gmail.com.
