Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Kinder! This handsome shepherd mix was an owner surrender to a local shelter at just 6 weeks old. Kinder’s snout was very swollen and the skin was dry and scaly. The shelter started to treat him but thought it best that he go to rescue to figure out what the problem was and resolve it! Kinder’s foster Mom saw a picture and could not resist his sweet face! After a visit to our vet it was determined he had a fungal infection on his face and one paw. After the right medication, he is fully healed.
Kinder is almost 35 pounds at 4 months old. His large paws may be an indication he will be a good-sized boy, perhaps 65 to 70 pounds when he is fully grown. He is quite lean but oh those legs…he just gets taller and taller! Kinder will make you smile every single day and he will be such a loyal companion. He loves the company of other dogs and is quite curious about those things his foster Mom calls “the cats.” He can’t quite understand why one of the dogs lets him suck on her ears but the cats are NOT impressed when he tries to do the same to their tails!! He has not shown any desire to hurt the cats but he really wants them to play with him.
Kinder is smart and curious. He loves people and is quite happy for their attention. He is learning new things every day! He knows that when he eats, he eats in his kennel and he runs in and does a perfect ‘SIT” before his bowl is put down. He is learning “OFF” because he is a puppy and would love to greet everyone as close to them as he can get and is quite curious to see just what is on the kitchen counter! He loves his toys and so far has not been destructive. He is very food motivated and will eat much too fast so his foster Mom feeds him with a “slow feeder bowl.” He has actually mastered it quite well and when he gets to the bottom and can’t get the last few bits, he will flip his bowl over!
Kinder has a very sweet personality. He loves to run and roll and play. His best friend in his foster home is a three year old active dog. She will play and run with him but she also took on the role of teacher and will let him know when he crosses the line. As much as he likes to run, he is just as quick to cuddle next to you on the sofa. Because he is so young, Kinder is still learning proper manners. He thinks all dogs MUST want to meet him and will get right up in their faces to say hello. This is not always a good thing if the other dog doesn’t appreciate it. Kinder would do very well with a puppy training class and it would be a great bonding experience for his new family! He is smart, learns quickly and seems to love routines he can count on. He is mostly house-trained but going into a new environment could set him back a bit so he will need a little patience until he figures out his new routine and the new signals. He is learning to walk on a leash and loves exploring new things. He does well in his kennel. He can be a bit vocal at times but it is short lived. He goes into his kennel quite willingly and treat goes a long way!
Kinder is a sweetheart and with a little patience and guidance this sweet boy will bring his family so much joy and laughter!
