Hi There,
My name is Elmer as you can see I am a little guy weighing in at 30 lbs I should be at least 45lbs. I was found wandering the streets, looking for someone to feed me and take care of me. But that did not happen, so Animal Control picked me up which was a good thing because they called The English Bulldog Rescue Network to come and Save Me.
My Foster Mom took me immediately to the Dr. To have me evaluated. Needless to say I am Heavy HEART WORM POSITIVE and need to gain weight before I can undergo treatment. I also have a severe ear infection in both ears which have caused me to be partial deaf.
After being at My Foster Moms house for one month I have gained weight and improving every day.

UPDATE On Elmer 1/27/09
I am going to see the Dr. to have my 2nd Heart Worm Treatment I will let you know how I am doing.
UPDATE on Elmer this is from Elmer's Foster Mom 12/29/08 we had a little bit of a set back for this poor guy.
I just wanted to give everyone an update on Mr. Fudd...
He had to go to the Vet on Tuesday, he had been having some breathing
issues for the past week and a half. Apparently his lungs became
inflamed with some fluid due to the heartworm treatment. When he was
first brought in for heartworm treatment (back in November) he tested
a high positive which caused his heart to become slightly enlarged.
When this happens, the worms that die off break up and deposit into
the bloodstream, are expelled into the lungs. The Vet put him back on
antibiotics and Pred, he is responding well to this treatment! He
wants to run up and down the stairs following me everywhere! He is
such a sweet Bully, whomever gets to adopt this little guy is getting
a great dog!! We love him a bunch!!
I didn't mean to get into such a deep discussion about Elmer's
treatment. It is IMPORTANT that everyone be aware of the importance
of HEARTWORM PREVENTATIVE. I know it can be expensive, BUT heartworm
treatment can be more ($800+) EXPENSIVE! Aside from giving this poor
guy complications,it has been very hard on Elmer's health, and has
also postponed his 2ND treatment till his lungs are better. I will
keep you posted on his progress.
