My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dexter is a really special, sweet dog. I adopted him from a K9 training facility after he was returned by his first owner. He was a therapy dog for a child, but as Dexter got bigger the child became afraid of him. The owners did not keep up with his training. He needs a job to do- in typical German Shepherd fashion he is very smart and gets bored easily. He would do best in a home with older kids that will constantly play with him, take him for walks, and work on his training with him. He is highly food and toy motivated and he is kennel trained.

He has received some personal protection training, and he is VERY protective of his family. He is not aggressive but he will protect the people he loves in the event someone tried to hurt them. He has a pretty ferocious bark so he doesn't make the best first impression and can be pretty intimidating, but he does not attack.

Dexter turned a year old in December and he currently weighs 77 pounds. He should be full grown in another 3 or 4 months. He is neutered and will get his shots this month, and he is microchipped. He is heartworm negative and is on heartworm prevention and flea prevention.

Because of the money we have put into training and vetting Dexter as well as the fact that he is AKC registered, we are asking for an adoption donation of $550. If you would like to meet Dexter, send us an email and we will set up an appointment!
