Meet Sunny Bunny! Sunny is a beautiful husky / German shepherd mix who’s about three years old, currently weighs just over 80 lbs, & of course thinks she’s a lap dog! While this big, silly girl does have some German shepherd attributes to her personality, she is predominantly husky & she has a huge personality! Sweet Sunny didn’t exactly have an ideal life for her breed mix before coming to rescue. She was originally owned by an older lady & was kept as a house dog. She was then handed off to a family with no fenced yard so was only allowed out on cable. She came to us with some behavior issues due not having any boundaries or structure & from being physically abused. Sunny’s body shape & gait were not natural when she came to us; we discovered she had two torn ACLs & was in a significant amount of pain. We repaired the knee that was visibly causing her pain & found it was an old injury. Although Doc was positive the other was torn as well, it has never appeared to cause her any pain so we figured it had already encapsulated & we chose not to repair it. She is now just a big, goofy, happy, healthy girl! While Sunny did have some issues with some men initially, we appear to have worked past that. She has done very well at public adoption events & meeting male friends & neighbors. She loves pretty much everybody & is always more than happy to give you her tummy for rubs! She also loves all other dogs & LOVES to play! She is very food & treat motivated & will try to convince you she’s starving all the time! In fact, Sunny has become somewhat infamous for eating just about anything, sometimes getting herself into trouble & giving herself tummy aches! Of course this husky girl is also mouthy & she has a big voice being such a big girl! People not familiar with huskies are sometimes intimidated by her; people that know huskies think she’s a hoot! While Sunny is goofy & sweet, she is also very smart & can be very stubborn. She also doesn’t always realize her size or strength. Therefore, she will need an experienced husky owner who can handle her. Sunny loves go for walks, run the yard & just hang out outside, especially when it’s cooler. A fenced yard will be a requirement but she is not the escape artist type so a standard chain link fence is fine. A playful dog sibling is also a requirement for Sunny. Sunny will not be placed in a home with children under about 10 years of age. She is housebroken, crate-trained, and leash-trained. Her adoption fee is $150 & she is fully vetted including microchip with lifetime registration. Adoption application, home check, vet reference & adoption contract required.
