My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

COPPER  is a R uby male that came to Cavalier Rescue of Florida from a local shelter. His history is therefore unknown. Copper was so poorly neglected that he came to us nearly bald. But with much needed TLC given to him by his foster parents, he's come to grow  a beautiful red full coat.  He's also had cataract surgery and recovering very well from it . He's enjoying his new look on life.

Copper is considered a senior by age, but he by no means knows his age, he has plenty of energy to go around. He loves to go on walks every day with his foster sisters! He loves to play with soft stuffed toys. And his foster mom says that his picture should be next to the word Velcro in the dictionary. Copper is the perfect constant companion. Copper has a bit of separation anxiety that has settled down some. Continued positive reinforcement and patience in his forever home will be important to make him feel safe and secure.

Some forever home must-haves include:

  • Ophthalmologist in the area or within reasonable driving distance to continue his cataract surgery recovery.
  • Someone home most of the day,
  • A home with at least one other dog, 
  • Ideally a fenced in yard.


Copper is being fostered in St. Petersburg and my adoption fee is $350.
