My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is: Candy Breed: Black mouth cur mix Gender: Female - spayed Color: Fawn Size: Large Approximate age: 2-4 years Energy Level: High Foster family says:Hi, I’m Candy! I was saved from the Weatherford Parker County Animal Shelter on my last day and I just finished up my heartworm treatment. They say I’m a mix between Black Mouth Cur and maybe Shepherd or Mastiff. I'm about 70lbs (I got a little chubby during my heartworm treatment, but I’m starting off the New Year with some exercise again), approx. 2-4 years old, fully vetted, microchipped and spayed! I am housetrained, know how to use a doggy door and crate friendly! I’m SUPER sweet (hence my name) and just love for you to pet me! If you stop petting me, I’ll get even closer and paw at you till you can’t resist my cuteness! My favorite thing to do is go on walks and explore all the scents….I do LOVE to sniff ! I make my foster dad laugh when I get on a really good scent, cause he says I sound just like a hog. I enjoy truck rides in the back seat and my favorite toy is a Kong! I’m learning how to fetch, but really I just pretend to go after it or watch you chase me for it. I’m fine with just running around though, cause I have lots of energy! I like being around other dogs and I’m not sure on cats yet….they are fun to chase and sniff, but my foster parents have been teaching me to leave them alone. (Hey, it’s just my instincts kicking in!) They say I’m smart and learning commands real easy! I do like to jump to say hello, but my foster mom tells me this a no-no, so I’m working on controlling myself. She says with just a little more training, I could be the PERFECT dog!! Please come meet me and I promise you’ll fall in love with my beautiful eyes and sweet personality! We HIGHLY recommend you take your dog/puppy to formal obedience classes with a qualified trainer. This will help you and your dog/puppy learn and bond with each other. While we do the best to determine the breed of our dogs, the majority are turned in as strays & we have only general appearance, coat type, size, ear type, tail & coat color to base breed on. It is always possible when adopting a puppy that it can dramatically change and look like another breed as it grows up. Our fees are typically $75.00 for adult dogs & $150.00 for fully vetted puppies. Fill out an application at https://form.jotform.com/40468849602159 to add this pet to your family forever.
