Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, my name is Brandi and I am looking for a new forever home. Might yours be the one?
To understand me, you should know my story. I am eight years old and a Staffordshire Terrier/Boxer mix. I'm a short gal who has put on some weight recently and am hoping my new home will offer some play, walks and exercise.
I was once abandoned at a boarding facility and couldn't believe my luck when a kind, retired veteran by the name of Mike came to see me. We talked and played a bit and he decided to adopt me. We were the best of buddies for years! We walked, played, and he gave me tummy rubs (which I really love). We spent lots of time on the couch watching TV together. Sadly, Mike became very sick and recently passed away. While he was sick I was allowed to free-feed for myself, and thus the extra pounds. Mike didn't have any relatives so I found myself in a very nice foster home. My foster mom says I am one of the best trained dogs she ever cared for and trusts me in her home completely (although she's been watching my diet pretty closely). I just went to see my doctor, and she says I am in great health but just need to lose some excess pounds with a good exercise walking routine.
I am really an affectionate gal once I get to know you. I've been called a “snuggle-bug”. Not sure what that is but it sounds about right. I love to go on walks and know how to behave on a leash. I know not to pull on the leash and am very easy going. I love to smell fresh and clean and enjoy taking showers and baths. I am house trained, spayed, up to date on all my shots and even micro-chipped. And I am sooo…well-behaved in the home environment, I won’t need to be crated.
I can be a bit shy and reserved when I first meet people, but I warm up quickly. If you have children, they should be older and willing to give me some space and time to get to know them. Before long, I will love to be sharing the couch with you!
I do have a couple of requests that are pretty important for me. The first is that I need to be the only four legged furry friend in my new home. I just prefer humans so much more than other dogs or cats. It is a little less stressful for me and to be truthful, I like the attention of being an only "child".
One last thing. My previous owner's dying wish was for me to find a new loving, caring permanent home. I want that wish to come true for him and for me. He cared for me so much he even left a little financial dowry for my future care. He asked that his military dog tag be attached to my collar so I would remember him forever. I will. (See photo of my daddy’s burial flag and dog tags.) But I need a new permanent home to be happy in again. Some say they think they can still see some sadness in my eyes. I think what they really see is love.
DISTINGUISHING QUALITIES:
House-broken.
Great walking buddy – won’t drag you on the leash!
Loves car rides and won’t get car sick, excellent in the car.
Very affectionate.
Quiet – not a big barker.
Good with baths.
Won’t destroy things in your home.
No slobbering, drooling, not a licker, and not a jumper.
Will sleep thru the night and won’t bother you.
If you have room in your heart and in your home won't you please come meet me? Like I said I might be a little shy at first, but I've kinda been through a lot. If we get along and you take me in I will give you years of companionship and snuggles. I come with my cushy bed, sack of supreme dog food, set of vaccination records (good for one year), collar, and durable leash. AND LOTS AND LOTS OF LOVE TOO!!!
