Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hello and good afternoon everyone I would like to introduce myself...my name is #LucasBPFF and I would like to share my story with you...well I had fleas a while back and for some reason my family thought it would be a good idea to cover me in motor oil...to get rid of them.....yessss...you heard it right...motor oil...well you could just imagine what I felt like...I was sick to my stomach over the smell and it began to irritate my skin so badly....it didn‘t do anything but make me sick.....then I overheard a conversation......that....they decided that they were going to surrender me.....they said I was going to go to a place called Animal Care and Control...I had no idea what that was...and I couldn’t believe after all I’ve just gone through. ....they were going to surrender me...rather than care for me....well....they wrapped me in a dirty towel and brought me to ACC...they walked in...signed some papers...and just left me there...covered in oil...the women behind the counter could not believe their eyes...how could they do this to a sweet pup they thought...they brought me right in to see the doctors...they said they would have to shave most of my hair off just to give me a bath...and that’s what they did...they cared for me with such tenderness and compassion...they gave me a warm bath in dawn dish detergent and it felt wonderful..I have a wound on the underside of my chin...and it was burning me....they gently applied medicine on it...it was all I could do not to cry...my heart was so full of gratitude to these caring humans...once they were done cleaning me up as best as they could...they said they were going to send out a rescue request...and you all know it was aunt Liz who answered the call...she said yes she could and yes she would and the other day...I got to meet her sister aunt Mary.. she had such a look of compassion in her eyes...as she held me gently....she said she was going to drive me out to her families farm...where I would be taken care...and when she signed me out and got all my meds...we took that long drive out to the country...when we arrived...I heard all the birds singing...ducks...geese...chickens...2 cows moooing all over and a little piglet named Oliver...they were just so happy...I was greeted by aunt Liz...and I smiled at her with a heart full of thanks...she walked with us over to Rita’s Cat House...where I was greeted by my new room mates...they seemed to sense I’ve been though a lot...they were so gentle and considerate...aunt Liz had a cozy place for me to rest...a large crate with a cozy bed and a warm soft blanket...I walked in and settled right in...I took a long nap...and dreamt of a happy future...with a loving family...who would cherish and care for me...when I woke up aunt Liz was right there and I got to meet uncle Steve then...he too had that same look of compassion on his face...and I knew right then...this is the best place for me to be right now...in the loving home...of Barky Pines...I saw how all my friends ran to greet them...and it warmed my heart...to know that they cared enough to take me in all greasy and nasty...they didn’t mind one bit...the next morning...after a delicious breakfast aunt Liz gave me a warm bath...her hands were so gentle on my tender skin..I felt much better after that...I know it’s gonna be a while before I’m all free of that nasty motor oil...and that my neck wound needs to heal...I have cataracts too for a young fella...but that doesn’t bother me one bit...I can see just fine...I am about 5 years old...I am a Shih Tzu...I am up to date on all my shots including my rabies vaccine...I also have a microchip...if you or anyone you know...would be interested in a sweet loving boy...I might be the answer to your prayers...well I better get going I need a lot of rest...thank you for reading my story...thank you all for caring...and especially...for sharing...your friend Lucas...woof woof BPFF
