Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This profile is for two dogs. They are bonded and need to be adopted together.
Max - 9yrs old Brown/Black/White - Rat Terrier 22 lbs, Neutered **Vaccinations until 2015 ** (please see special needs.) Max was approximately 1 year old when previous owners adopted him Oct 2009. Max was a rescue dog found wandering on the streets of Elk Grove. He is an indoor dog, house and kennel trained. He prefers sleeping in his kennel in his bed. Max knows to sit, stay, shake, rollover and speak. He knows the words "come get a treat " or "Max come get something ". If you can't find him, saying Either of these phrases will bring him running to you. He is a very loyal and intuitive dog. He knows and gravitates to the person who might need him the most, someone not feeling well physically or emotionally. He can be quite the talker. If you ask him " Do you want to talk" or " Do you want to say something" Is all the encouragement he needs. Max just loves to be near his people and will sit or lay with you, always wanting to be close. A real cuddler. he loves to lay in the sun, sit outside and watch his surroundings or play with other dogs. Max does not like cats nor should he be around. Max would be best with adults and other small dogs. He has been around children and has never been a problem. I say best around adults as that is how he has been raised and works best for him. Cats are a definite NO. His favorite treats are sliced carrots and green beans.
Milo - 9yrs old Black/gray Wired Hair Terrier 20lbs, Vaccinated and Neutered. Milo was approximately 1 year old when previous owner adopted him Oct 2009. He was a rescue dog from the 2007 Santa Barbara fires. Having not been claimed after 6 months, he was transferred to Sacramento County SPCA. He is an indoor dog, house and kennel trained. He prefers sleeping inside his kennel in his bed. Milo knows to sit, stay, shake, rollover and speak. He knows the words "come get a treat " or "Milo come get something ". If you can't find him, saying either of these phrases will bring him running to you. He is a very kind loving sweet gentle dog. It takes time for him to trust or know someone. He will bark at first but giving him a treat will help a lot with him. Once he gets to know a person, he likes to sit or lay near them. When Milo is laying either on a couch or bed, he may give a growl or a groan if a person or animal gets to close. Sometimes our other dog, Max just wants to lay next to his brother or place a paw over Milo’s back and it is just Milo's way of saying he wants to be left alone, or you are too close to him. Milo tends to be a talker and will not bite you. He is a very loving, gentle and low key/quiet dog. He likes to play or be near other dogs or his people, have his back rubbed or lay his head by you. He would do best with adults and other small dogs. He has been around children and has never been a problem. I say best around adults as that is how he has been raised and works best for him. Cats are a NO. His favorite treats are sliced carrots and green beans. Milo has been a very healthy dog and all shots are current.
Special needs - Max was diagnosed with Thrombocytopenia, (bleeder) approx 2015 when he had to have teeth pulled. As a result of medications, he developed a sensitive stomach and had a diet of chicken and rice. He has been on regular dog food and does well. He was monitored with blood test for about 6 months and has been fine, no residual affects. Max is not to be vaccinated, per doctors orders. ** We are in contact with previous owners and will try to provide as much information as needed to help understand Max's diagnosis
