My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I'm a sweet 8.5 month old gal (8/1/2009) who is just a typical puppy. I LOVE to play with my foster siblings. I'm a bit big for my smaller foster siblings, but I still like to bark and antagonize them! I’m a bit clumsy and clunky right now – just not sure to do with this size!

I LOVE getting hugged and petted (though I do have this sad hound look, I'm really just soaking it up!) I come up on the couch and try to get as close as possible – okay, I admit it, I’ll climb in your lap if you let me!

My foster Mom calls me a bit of a barker - 'cause I love to bark when I play, but I can be distracted
and re-directed to a chew toy or to chase a ball. I don’t bark just to hear myself bark, but I’ll bark at a strange noise/someone approaching the house. My foster Mom is working on letting me know when she is fully aware of whatever I’m letting her know about (kind of takes the fun out of it, but she is the boss…), so I’m trying to be quick to respond to her command.

My foster Mom thinks I'm a Lab in disguise because I LOVE to carry around sticks and toys - often on most of our rather long walks in the evenings and to get others to play a game of chase. And I’ve discovered the joy of a kiddie pool – if that isn’t just a hoot – jump in and splash around – most of the other pups aren’t too sure about it, but I find it quite the blast. Then I jump out and go about chasing a buddy – ready or not!

I really, really enjoy swimming in a big pond or lake - it's a total blast! I think I'm a Lab trapped in a Hound body!

I also follow my foster Mom around more than some of the more "distractable" pups that hang out here with me. They are fun - but they can buzz around a bit like busy bees. I tend to stay more on target - either doing the walk or chasing/wrestling with other pups.

I am crate-trained, leash-trained and doing well with house-breaking. No accidents in quite some time - as long as my foster mom notices when I'm at the door and gotta go out!

I am quite snuggable (or so I'm told) - so after playtime, I love to be near someone for ample
love-time and belly-rubs - and puppy-massages are the bomb!

I'm doing quite well with basic obedience training - that's kinda like "whatever" to me, I'd rather just go snoop around the yard or play with another puppy, but hey - the treats are cool!

I'm currently being treated for Demodex, but I don't care - I'm still as active as ever and as
snuggly as ever. I LOVE people attention - I approach submissively, but if you aren't looking, I'll
wiggle in for some good petting!

I’ve gone on a bunch of walks around community parks – that is a BLAST! I pull a bit on the leash, but that’s just due to my puppy-excitement. I’m learning that I have to contain that a bit and not pull so much.

I've been spayed, dewormed, I'm up to date with vaccinations, and I'm on monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention.

I won't be adopted out to a family with children under the age of 8 years old because of my eventual size (70 to 80 pounds) and energy level.

If you'd like to meet me or have any questions about me, please complete an online adoption application and my foster home will be happy to arrange a visit! Please allow up to 72 hours for someone from New Leash to respond to your application.
