Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet KIMMY KAY, available for adoption through Fur the Love of PAWS Rescue!
PLEASE READ the entire post. Our rescues are looking for FOREVER HOMES. If you would consider rehoming a pet due to moving, allergies or family conflict, they asks that you do not adopt them - they'd like their next home to be their last. Stable forever homes only need apply.
WE HAVE A NO DECLAW POLICY. Thank you.
HERE'S THE SCOOP:
Kimmy came to us on January 10th. A week prior she was surrendered to the city shelter and from the second she got there, I knew it wasn't good. I was hoping within a few days she would settle down a bit and allow herself to be adoptable there, but she didn't. She turned into a fear filled cat who was no longer going to be a candidate for adoption there. I find that 'most' of these types of cats, the extremely fearful ones - are the most sensitive. And that makes for a great companion, a great pet. Because when they are rescued, they are so grateful.
We pulled Kimmy for rescue, had her vetted and then took her to the FURcility. It would be two weeks to the day before Kimmy would let down her guard and let us into her world. This shows just how hard it is on a cat to lose their home. Even in the most peaceful, loving, place possible - Kimmy still let fear and devastation rule her life. We gave her all the time in the world, no expectations. We spoiled her from a far and she wanted for nothing. Finally, one day, she decided she was ready to put the past behind her and move forward. Over those two weeks we learned a lot about her past and some traumatic things she had been through. She hadn't had the best life and we want better for her. So better she will get. :)
FAMILY GOALS!
Kimmy is an independent. She likes to do things on her terms and should be let to get acquainted to her new home at her own pace. Kimmy loves people and loves affection, but it isn't something she demands or insists upon. She'd be a good pet for someone who wants a companion, but maybe doesn't have time or want to do a ton of snuggling.
Kimmy loves to play! She will play with you or she will play alone! So far, fuzzy balls are her fav. I watch her in her Suite on camera and she just has so much fun. Easily entertains herself. :)
Kimmy lived with with many other cats, so would be fine with a multi cat home - but remember, all cats do best acclimated properly. She was surrendered as good with kids.
Kimmy is used to being an indoor/outdoor cat. Although I do know it is best for cats to be strictly indoor, it is difficult to take the love of the outdoors, out of the cat. We would consider an indoor/outdoor pet home for her, with certain conditions. She is likely to be quite the mouser, too. :)
Kimmy does tend to have some separation issues, and who can blame her. We have been working with her to ease that through positive re-enforcement and desensitizing. She likes to 'beg' us to stay by pawing and sassing. That most likely will disappear once in a home, but needs mentioned as it is a part of her journey.
Kimmy also likes to chat. It's more of a yell - "meooooooooooooooow!" and we just chat back. It is quite endearing actually. Part of what makes Kimmy, Kimmy.
If you are looking for a low maintenance cat, who will be your friend but will also do her own thing and be ok with it - Kimmy is the gal for you.
