RUDY is one of the Snowbirds rescued from an Indiana puppy mill. With that life behind him he's learning all about accepting affection and feeling comfortable about people holding him. He is still a little shy around new people at first, but with time to warm up he's all tail wags and sniffs. He follows his foster mom everywhere too. We are confident that with continued love and patience, he will blossom!
Rudy is quite the social butterfly with other dogs, especially his Cavalier foster brothers and sisters. And his favorite pastime is snuggling with them at nap-time. Kitties are interesting to him, but he's learned to behave well with them too. He may need reminders if there are kitties at his forever home.
We guestimate Rudy to be about 8-9 years old, give or take. The lack of medical care before CRF seems to have aged him a bit. But he's come so far. Since coming into rescue, he's had a ton of vetting completed. He has seen the Cardiologist several times had echocardiograms and medications adjusted. He's now on the right track and will need to be on his heart medications for life with continued cardiac care by the specialist.
We were finally given the clearance and had him neutered, along with his much needed dental cleaning. Rudy lost all his teeth during the procedure, but that doesn't bother him one bit. He eats kibble without any trouble, just a little slower than the others. No teeth also means no more infections or cleanings under anesthesia again, and that equals a happy heart.
Rudy is now healthy and strong and ready for his forever home!
In the meantime, Rudy is enjoying the good life, enjoying short walks. His foster mommy is making sure he don't push his heart to much so for the long walks he rides in style in a buggie. So he doesn't miss out on anything.
