Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Zeus will need to be placed with a canine companion.
Zeus is a 3 year old male merle with natural ears who came into rescue due to a divorce and his owner no longer having the time to care for him. Zeus previously lived with another Great Dane and a couple of cats as well as older children. Currently, Zeus lives with his Dane foster brother and sister. They are older and a little grumpy and he really wishes they would play with him. They do humor him sometimes but he is kind of rough so they put an end to it quickly. He is a pretty gentle boy when playing with his humans. He loves to play tug and wrestle a little bit or bring you stuffies (his favorite) to hold while he chews on them. He will put his mouth on you some but has never bit down. He has an extremely large gentle mouth. Zeus is not a name that fits him at all he should be a Buddy or Gentle Ben. He is a very lovey guy and has transitioned into foster life beautifully. He has fit right In and adjusted to the rules and schedule of his new environment almost immediately. He has his moments where he is vocal and needy but once you give him the attention he asks for he will go off and do his own thing. He is very clear on letting you know when he needs to go out and when it is meal time. He was free fed before but shared with his overindulgent brother so he is quite skinny right now. Zeus LOVES structured meal times and having his own bowl! He has shown no food aggression, he has been touched all over and let’s his foster mom put her hand in his bowl and play with his floppy lips with no reaction at all he just continues to eat happily. Zeus is a smart boy who needs some obedience training as well as leash training. He has picked up on manners impressively quick and responds to NO and correction quite well. He is not phased by loud noises and will nudge your hand for a pet when he wants one. He has welcomed everyone who has come into his foster moms crazy home with joy. After an initial bark and check to see if his house mates are okay with it he becomes a visitors (male or female) best friend. However he has not been taken out on a walk in the neighborhood yet so not sure how he responds on leash in public. He is crate trained but after the first day his foster mom has left him out with her Danes and he has done wonderfully. He has not had a single accident in the house since he got here. Zeus will be neutered on the 30th and then available after a hopefully quick recovery. Whomever is lucky enough to get to adopt Zeus is gonna feel like they won the rescue Dane lottery!
