Here's what the humans have to say about me:
**This dog is with Corridor Rescue in Houston, Texas**
Our street team volunteers have several locations were they feed stray cats. Occasionally at those stops, hungry dogs pop up and try to steal the cats' meal. Stanley was one of those dogs. We initially assumed he was owned, as he'd run over to one of our cat stops from a residential area, but we would always give him a meal when we saw him. The cats would stand their ground and Stanley soon understood not to mess with them since he would get his own plate. He is a quick study!
One day he showed up looking very rough. He had a gunshot wound in his leg, and he was skinny, missing hair, looking miserable. We were at capacity already, but how could we leave Stanley behind in such poor condition? We asked some neighbors if Stanley belonged to them or if they knew where he lived. They indicated he was a stray. So – in he came.
Stanley is a 1 year old Labrador Retriever mix. He weighs around 35 pounds.
He had a bit of a rough time adjusting when he first arrived at our kennel. He didn’t feel his best and just didn’t understand what was going on. His head was hanging low and his tail in between his legs, avoiding contact as best as he could. But after a few weeks, he figured out that life at our facility wasn’t all that bad. His wound healed up nicely, he received two meals every day with plenty of yummy treats in between, and the kennel staff would comfort and love on him daily.
We are happy to report that Stanley has turned into such a playful little lover boy. His favorite activity is playgroup time with his two girlfriends, Helen and Maya. He is now also healthy enough to join our weekend walking groups to the nearby park, and that seems to be the icing on the cake for Stanley. He has great leash manners and is just a happy boy when out and about.
When you see Stanley now, he is all about smiles. He turns out to be quite talkative, too. Not the loud, excessive barking kind. No, the cute kind. He wants to communicate with you and make sure you understand his point of view. He told us that he is ready to find his forever family. He can’t wait to meet you and have a little chit chat. Could you be the family he's been waiting for?
