Here's what the humans have to say about me:
I will venture closer to where I want to go with your TLC…
Pinky has had a hard time of it. She was trapped at the Shores and when it was discovered that she was microchipped she was brought to the shelter. A call to her previous owner told us that she had escaped out of a window two and a half years ago when they were living in Strand military housing. They had since moved to the East Coast and did not want Pinky back.
Pinky managed to survive for those two and half years most likely with the help of people willing to feed the “stray” cat. Her isolation from living with people and always being on guard made her a bit fearful of people.
When we first met Pinky, she was terrified of being touched. With time and patience volunteers have taught her that pets are a good thing and she will settle in for a gentle and slow petting session. Sometimes she may even dose off and some of us have been treated to the music of her soft purrs.
While Pinky has made great progress in her trust of people and confidence, she does not show well to potential adopters. Pinky is a Caturtle - a shy cat who will come out of their shell over time in a loving home with a cat savvy person.
She would love to find someone willing to love her for who she is, which is a beautiful kitty who can relax around people as long as they aren't forcing her to do things she is afraid of. Pinky needs one-on-one attention from a caring person that can help her overcome the past.
If you have a sunny corner or windowsill in your home, Pinky would love to come live with you. The rewards of watching this lovely cat blossom into a trusting and affectionate cat will be well worth the time and effort.
Do you have room in your heart and home for this beautiful Caturtle?
You can meet Pinky at the Coronado Animal Care Facility. The facility is open daily between 9:00 am and 11:30 am and 12:30 pm and 4:00 pm (except major holidays). It is located at 1395 First Street at the south end of the Ferry Landing complex.
If you are interested in adopting Pinky, you must first complete a Cat Adoption Application and meet with a PAWS of Coronado Cat Adoption Counselor. Cat adoption applications are available at the facility or Cat Adoption Applications may be completed online.
You can read about the adoption process on the Adoption Information page.
