Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Heidi is an almost 2 year old black lab, border collie mix. She has graduated from boot camp/training school with flying colors. She has always loved walks, but now she will calmly walk beside you as you set the pace. She has learned to wait patiently, go to her kennel for bedtime, and even has been progressing with leaving items alone that are not for her (no more food stealing from counters or trash can thieves). She loves to play with toys by herself, but would prefer a best friend to throw the toy back and forth with, and when she is all worn out she loves to curl up next to you and rest her head on your lap as she sleeps.
Heidi's ideal best friend would be someone who is knowledgeable of border collies and willing to give her a job of some kind or bring her on new adventures. She won't mind if these adventures require longer drives as her favorite thing to do is go for a car ride. She needs a forever home where she is the only dog or a dog with an even temperament. She needs someone willing to continue on with her training and socializing with people and dogs. She gets scared when meeting new people, but with her training she has learned to calm down and slowly adjust to someone else being around until she is comfortable enough to introduce herself. Her forever home would need to be patient and calm as this training process continues. While Heidi has come a long way with her training, she will need an experienced owner due to her breed and strong personality.
Heidi is house trained & crate trained, loves cats (but will respect their space if they tell her to back off), friendly with even energy dogs, and can jump as high as the top of the door while respecting a fence. She is fully vetted including microchip with lifetime registration. Adoption fee is $150. Adoption application, vet reference, home check & contract required. She cannot wait to find her forever home! If you don't see an "Apply to adopt" button on this page, please follow the link below to take the first step in making Heidi part of your family! Applications are given precedent over emails.
