Here's what the humans have to say about me:
"Mimi" is a beautiful, approx 65-lb, 2-yo (born Aug 2015) spayed female GSD who is affectionate, energetic and playful. Mimi is very loving and enjoys cuddling. She is friendly with strangers and great with young children. Mimi was previously in a house with a 2-yo boy who she let crawl all over him without putting up a fuss!
Mimi is good with other dogs and very playful. (To see a video of her playing with her former canine partner "Bruno", go to https://youtu.be/9XHOSvynjzQ.) However, I don't know how she is with small dogs. Mimi is somewhat of an alpha female, and showed people-possessive behavior towards a young male GSD mix in a previous foster home. (She would get snarky if the young dog approached her when she was receiving attention.) If Mimi is to go to a home with another dog, I'd prefer her matched with a confident male.
Mimi is not good with cats.
Mimi is housetrained and very well behaved when left inside the house. She knows what her toys are and what she's not to play with, and does not counter surf. Mimi is very obedient--she stops a behavior immediately when you tell her to stop and she quickly goes to a place you direct her.
Mimi loves to run, and is a good jogging partner. She loves to fetch and play with squeaky toys. Above all, Mimi loves to bite water streaming from a hose. (To see a short video of her biting the water stream, go to https://youtu.be/pmmX5hw0h0U.) If you have plastic sprinklers, you'll probably want to keep Mimi inside when they come on or she'll likely damage them when.
Mimi loves going for car rides and is a good passenger.
Mimi is very healthy but is does have one minor medical condition that she's being treated for called exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI). EPI is the inability of the pancreas to manufacture and secrete the necessary enzymes required by the body to digest food and absorb nutrients, causing loose stools and weight loss. EPI is readily treated by supplying the missing pancreatic enzymes in the form of a powder, called pancreatin. The powder is added to a dog's food (grain free), moistened, and allowed to activate for about 20 minutes. That's it!
Mimi only requires approx 1 tsp of pancreatin per day to fully manage her EPI. The cost of Mimi's daily pancreatin, when ordered at the 1 kg size and 8X strength from the renowned Website www.enzymediane.com, is approx $0.50/day. She has been receiving pancreatin since April 2017, when she tested positive for EPI.
Mimi's former owner Sheila found her at about four months old in Dec 2015 eating from a dumpster behind a restaurant. Sheila adopted her and brought her UTD on vaccinations. She and her family became very attached to Mimi, but in May of 2017 Sheila's landlord bound out about Mimi and told her she couldn't keep her any longer. GSRSV took Mimi in on 5-16-17. A man in Sacramento adopted Mimi on 9-3-17, but had to return her to GSRSV on 12-19-17 due to his 2-yo son's sever allergies to her.
Mimi is now in a foster home in Antelope. Her adoption fee is $260, which includes a 2-wk supply of pancreatin.
