This sweet older girl is Abby, a shepherd mix, who was found as a stray in the bitter cold on New Years Eve. Scared and shivering, she was led off the street and into the shelter by a passerby who knew she wouldn't survive the night in the frigid temperatures.
Abby is about 7 or 8 years old, and she is one of the nicest and sweetest dogs her foster family has ever seen! She is small for a shepherd (she only weighs about 47 pounds) but she could definitely gain some weight. She is calm, easygoing, and gentle, and although she doesn't charge around the house with the other dogs in her foster home, she definitely enjoys their company. Abby is completely housetrained, and perfectly behaved when left free in house. She loves going for walks and is great on a leash. She enjoys being brushed, and although she wasn't thrilled about the bath that her foster mom gave her, she handled it like a trooper and couldn't stop wagging her tail when she was out of the tub feeling clean and looking gorgeous!
Abby is spayed, up to date on all her shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped. X-rays were recently taken of her hips (thank you Dr. Schwirck!) and although they showed a touch of arthritis there were no signs of hip dysplasia. Abby is great with people of all ages. She is an absolutely wonderful dog who will warm your home and your heart during the cold winter months and for many years to come.
