Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Ariel, we have been calling her Ari. She is the first dog the Black Dog Rescue Project has taken in from a city shelter to put up for adoption. She is totally spayed, vaccinated and ready to start on a new adventure. Ari is around a year old now and has never known a family of her own. Ari is believed to be either a lab or a lab/dane mix. I guess we will find out more as she matures. She knows sit, down(lay), place, go to bed(crate). We are working on "shake." She is fantastic with "come" and great off leash reliability even out here in the country! Ari is crate trained and adjusted quickly to the pack, but I think she prefers to have less dogs and more humans around because I can tell she is uncomfortable when she is at our place with our 4 dogs. Other than that she has been a total delight to have in our home. She listens well and lives to cuddle. She is shaping up to be the perfect family dog! She loves young children and is very gentle with them. Ari loves our blind kitten, Missandei. They play and play and Ari is extremely gentle and caring with her. Although, she is lucky to be out of the city shelter and enjoys her two foster homes it's not the same as having a family to care about you and someone who you mean the world to. This goofy pup was found as a stray. She wandered past the residence of Darlinda who immediately came to her aid. She already had a black lab named Jasmine so she called her Ariel, gave her some food and water and looked her over. While she absolutely fell in love with the black beauty, medical issues, a small house, and other personal issues caused Ariel to simply be too much for Darlinda. So, now she's looking for a loving home and new best friend. She has long, lanky limbs and she can soar right over a standard chain link fence although she doesn't do it unless it is to get to a person she knows. She doesn't want to run away because she absolutely loves people. I can definitely say that Ariel is a wonderful, loving, intelligent dog. Her intelligence makes her a perfect candidate for training. We have already started a good foundation for that although she would rather cuddle or play than train! She needs someone who would be including her in family activities and treating her as family. This is not a dog that can be put in the backyard all day and forgotten about. She craves interaction with her humans and is not one to stray even if there is a squirrel or something to chase. She is very athletic, but also likes to hang out on the couch. She is versatile and happy as long as you love her. She would thrive as a therapy or service dog, scent training or really any other job you could give her would help her be happier, healthier and just a higher functioning member of society.
