Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi and Happy New Year! My name is Baker and I am a young Virginia gentleman looking for my forever home. I was picked up in a shelter and arrived in sunny Virginia Beach healthy. Let me tell you a little about myself. I am a more laid back guy, I have 2 friends here at the house, 1 male 7 year old Brittany named Koty and his sister Maggie who is an 8 year old Golden Retriever. When I first arrived I didn't really know how to play and now Maggie the Golden is teaching me! I love to play in the evening, and I really like the rope toys. If you give me a stuffed toy, I'll show you how good I am at unstuffing them in seconds! :-) I am a good boy, and have not chewed a single thing in my foster home and my foster Mom is really happy about that. I have dug a few holes in the back yard though. I LOVE to swim, and when I stayed at another Brittany's house when my foster family was on vacation, they had a pool. Koty would lay on the top step, but I would go right in and swim laps!
I really like going for a walk, especially if there are any squirrels around...Koty likes them too, but Maggie doesn't seem to care about them...I can't figure that out. If I'm in the house, I'll keep watch out the window, and Koty watches the other side so all sides of the fenced yard are covered. My Mom has been working on manners with me, and I am really smart and haved learned a lot since I'v been here. Will work for food. :0)
We live near a Navy base, and the loud noise of those things that fly in the air do not bother me at all, neither do storms or fireworks. Those other 2 go hide in Mom's shower!
Please, please fill out an application for me at www.americanbrittanyrescue.org, I am really looking forward to going to my forever home!!
Foster Mom here: Baker is a wonderful young boy! He is a great cuddler, and will happily sit next to you on the floor by your feet, sit on the couch with his head in your lap or sleep with you if allowed. He was doing a good bit of counter surfing, and trash can exploring, but is much, much better now. He does all basic commands, sometimes before I even ask him too. He is very healthy, and we are working on losing some weight. He is food motivated, every night at about 8:15 he comes and does this non-bark whisper to tell me it is cookie time. He is house broken and will let you know when he needs to go out. I have not had him around cats, or little children, so a home with a child 5 or up may be best for him. He needs a fence, I have a 6 ft. and he has dug under some, but has never tried to go over. I think he would make a great addition to a muliti or single dog family!
