update 8-19-13 I have always adored big dogs. It's so heartbreaking because shelters everywhere are full of big dogs. They are always the last to get adopted. And that is so sad because they have the biggest, most tender hearts. I personally think that big dogs are more gentle with children. Their behavior is more predictable than some of the smaller breed dogs. Most of the time, big dogs are just big old babies inside. Tanner is a perfect example. He is one of the biggest dogs at our shelter right now. And I have loved this dog from the moment he came to us. He's predictable. He is going to celebrate every time he sees you coming, jumping up and down with joy at the mere thought of you. He's going to give you a full body hug, paws around your neck. He's going to lick your face a few times and then hug you again. This dog has so much love inside of him just waiting for a chance to make a difference in someone's life. Tanner doesn't belong in a shelter. It breaks my heart to see this dog kenneled day after day. He needs to run free and feel the grass beneath his paws. If you know anyone that has been considering adopting a big dog, please share Tanner's picture. You can tell them this, Tanner is predictable. He is going to love you with all of his heart, for as long as his heart beats...
TANNER was abandoned by his owner at an apartment complex in Memphis, and we brought him here to the Mississippi Delta to keep him out of the infamous Memphis Animal "Shelter". You can see that he is stunningly beautiful - yet he has sad eyes. He still has a lot of puppy in him and he loves to run and play with people and other dogs...He is a good sized boy so he needs a good sized fenced yard to play in.
Tanner is a gentle dog and he would do very well with children to run and play with....but at night nothing would please him more than to curl up next to his human's feet to nap. He isn't a barker. He isn't a jumper. We will say that IF you happen to have horses Tanner might not be the right dog for your family. Tanner seems to love horses - or he isn't sure what they are - but he doesn't seem to have a healthy fear of them and his intense curiosity is going to get him hoof-butted. No horses please.
You can see from his photos and video that he is a beauty. If you would like to see more videos just call us and we can email them to you. Tanner really hates being confined for long periods in a kennel and he wants his family RIGHT NOW. please?
If you are interested in adopting this dog please give us a call.
