Meet Cookie the Coonhound! She is a gorgeous, smart, loving, energetic little girl who came dangerously close to being euthanized. Luckily for her a PuppyPorch rescuer and also coonhound fanatic brought her to safety.
The shelter thought Cookie was a purebred Bluetick puppy just a little girl of 6 months. Judging by her teeth and maturity, she is probably a year old or older. Given that she is a bit of a redhead and is only about 40 pounds, she is probably not a purebred Bluetick. Regardless of her family tree, she is going to make a wonderful companion!
Cookie loves people of all sizes and gets along great with other dogs. She way too interested in cats though, and all involved would be happiest if she didn’t have any kitty roommates. She is crate trained and housebroken. She even scratches at the door to go outside. Cookie is still mastering house manners, but she makes up for any lack with affection. She wants nothing more than to lie at your feet or next to you on the couch and be petted. She is learning that it is not okay to jump up on people and would therefore be best with kids who are old enough to handle that behavior. Cookie is very smart and is catching on quickly. Her foster home works with her everyday to teach her better manners, and she will continue to learn in her forever home.
Cookie is a wonderful dog. She is the perfect size for a family looking for a medium sized house dog. If you have a spot in your life for Cookie, contact Christi
