Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Regis is a young adult who has dealt with a lot of change in his life over the passed several months. He was picked up as a stray and after some investigation by the dedicated staff at the humane society it was discovered his former owner had passed away with no one stepping up to take care of this poor lost soul. While his friendly and outgoing demeanor endeared him to the shelter workers, he was a bit nervous there and didn't receive much interest. In addition to everything else our buddy had some skin issues and a condition called cherry-eye in both of his eyes both likely contributing to his lack of interest. While cherry-eye is not a deadly condition it undoubtedly has given him trouble for a long time and was a constant discomfort to him. I was drawn to him right away when I met him. He put his head down in a scared submissive way and allowed me to gently pet his head. He then slowly lifted his head and gave me a loving kiss and I knew we needed to help him. Fast forward a few weeks, and with the support of our wonderful vet, Regis is thriving and no worse for the wear. He fit into our home immediately and loves nothing more than cuddling with his human friends. Now is his time to find a family to share in his zest for life and his loyal love.
Regis is an approximately 2 year old, 21 pound Shih Tzu - Lhasa mix (our best guess). He is a gentle and loving dog who is great with kids and other dogs alike. Regis is fully vetted with Rabies, DA2PPV and Bordatella vaccinations; recent negative heartworm and fecal tests; and is neutered and microchipped. His cherry-eye in both eyes is fixed and should never be an issue again. He is kept on monthly heartworm preventative. Regis's adoption fee is $350.
The first step to adopt Regis is to read all about adoption with Happy Tails Rescue Inc. and fill out an application. If we think your home sounds like a good fit we'll be in touch. Click here to go to our web site: www.happytailsrescueinc.org/adoption-available-dogs

Happy Tails Rescue Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit foster-based rescue based in Northwest Indiana. We have no shelter, all of our animals are cared for in loving foster homes until their forever home match is found. All of our animals are fully vetted before adoption, including distemper, rabies, and bordatella vaccines, a heartworm test, fecal test, microchip, and are spayed/neutered. If you're interested in meeting one of our animals please fill out an application first. If approved we will then arrange a meet and greet. Happy Tails does not do same day adoptions because we do a short home visit to make sure our animals are being placed in safe environments.
