My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Look at this beautiful, burly guy. His name is Bear, and despite having a few years on him, he has such a zest for life. So charismatic - he gets along with everyone, including cats and kids. The bounce in his step will make ya smile, whether on a casual walk or playing with his toys.
Bear does have heartworm. Just like Dallas, our other afflicted pup, he'll need someone that can give him his daily meds until we call you in and treat him in late November. All at our expense, of course. You just supply the love (and calming influence for 6 weeks or so as part of his treatment!). ❤️
And Bear isn't just good looks and great attitude - he's smart as can be, obeying "sit" and "down" on command without hesitation. Potty trained, too; he goes to the door when he's ready. Still not convinced? Come on down and ask to spend a few minutes with Bear, and see what all the fuss is about.

Come meet me today at Jackson County Animal Shelter in Jackson, Michigan, USA! *All dog adoptions require an application*. Availability date shown is when the cat or dog becomes JCAS property; any necessary medical procedures may slightly postpone an adoption. For dogs, a meet & greet with your dog is required, and is the only definitive way to know how our dog will behave for you.

PLEASE NOTE: NOT ALL ANIMALS ARE ON THE WEBSITE. IF YOU ARE MISSING YOUR PET, PLEASE COME THE SHELTER TO SEE IF YOUR PET IS HERE.

Adoption costs:
Cat/kitten: $90, second cat/kitten for $1. There may be an additional $50 refundable spay/neuter fee for kittens too young to be spayed/neutered at time of adoption.
Dog: $120 plus dog license fee

Adoption fees include vaccinations, spay/neuter, heartworm check (for dogs), feline leukemia check (for cats), rabies vaccination, and deworming. Pets have also been treated for fleas and ticks. Some pets may have had other veterinary treatment as needed.
