Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We only adopt in the Greater St. Louis Area.
Baggins is a 5 year old Corgi boy with an exuberant personality and tons of energy. Baggins loves meeting new people, and is quick to warm to new experiences and environments. Baggins' personality is goofy and fun, and he is an affectionate boy. He enjoys playing fetch (with sticks and balls!), cuddling on the couch, and patrolling the yard for squirrelly intruders. Baggins loves taking walks, and having the chance to explore the world and get some exercise. He would likely do well in a home where he could continue his adventures in the great outdoors; Baggins would do best with an active family who give him plenty of opportunities to tap into his energetic nature. Like many Corgis, Baggins is bright, intelligent, and easily trained. He is housebroken and crate trained, and knows basic commands such as sit, down, and drop it. At night Baggins prefers to sleep in a dark and quiet room, and he is happiest at the foot of his foster parents’ bed. We believe that Baggins may have been played with with a laser pointer as a puppy, and as a result he is still sensitive to light and shadow. He can become anxious during thunderstorms and at times when bright reflections are present on walls. Baggins' foster parents have had success distracting him with a task or activity (like practicing commands or playing fetch) on these occasions. Baggins would do very well as an only dog who was able to spend lots of time doing fun activities with his family.
Baggins has some anxiety issues. He would not do well in a home with children. Although he loves to play ball and sleep on the sofa, he does not do well with lots of commotion. Grand Central Station isn't the best place for Baggins. He takes an anti-anxiety med daily. Baggins is also hypothyroid. This is not uncommon in dogs, and he is managed well on one med a day. Total cost of his meds is only $19.00 a month. This is a small price for a loving fun little guy. Baggins' ideal home would be with a family who are experienced dog owners and are well-versed in recognizing and responding to a pet's signals.
We do require a fenced yard. Baggins would do best as the only dog in the home. No cats or children for Baggins. Baggins is house and crate trained. Up-to-date on vaccines, on heartworm preventative, and microchipped. The adoption process is a phone conservation, application, and home visit.
