Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This is Lulu. She is about 5 to 6 years old, spayed black Lab Mix. Lulu is a sweet sweet dog. She is about 40 to 45 lbs. She is 100% potty-trained, leash trained, crate trained and know some basic commands.
Lulu was captured and put in a high kill shelter when she was just a couple of months old. Then she was "rescued" and bailed out of the shelter by a hoarder. At the time, Lulu was only a couple of months old. Lulu went from on the death row to a long 5 years of nightmare. She was kept in a dark, wet, humid, concrete flooring with over a hundred dogs with no air circulation and dirty water and little food. When we found her, all of her hair were gone, covered in mange, bite wounds and sores and barely able to walk or open her eyes. She was in bad bad shape. There were dead dogs in the same room she was kept and the smell was horrific. Disregards how terrible the environment was, she still wagged her tails and happy to see our rescue volunteers. From our research, we learned that she was in that environment for over 5 years. She had survived through it. She had a very tough earlier years in the beginning of her life. We really want a great home that would love, care and spoil her.
Lulu is quiet, friendly, loving, and calm. She is more reserve and skittish at first, after a short period, she would open up more and more. Lulu is never aggressive, very submissive and calm. Lulu is good with kids, dogs of all sizes and cats. She doesn't play much with other dogs. Lulu doesn't chew or destroy anything. She doesn't really know how to play with dog toys. She is 100% potty-trained. Lulu rarely bark or whine and doesn't make any demands. She just quietly lay in her bed (and if you let her she would stay in dog bed whole day). She could very easily be forgotten if you don't pay attention to her. However, if you leash her and taking her out, she is a great walker / hiker and jogger. She can go for miles of hiking. We believe a good family for Lulu would be someone who is active and would take Lulu everywhere. She is great outdoor and she needs someone to get her out and experience life. Also, Lulu can be a great emotional support dog because of her mild and mellow temperament.
Lulu is now 100% healthy. She does have some bare spots on her skin where hair was thin. It was because of the long period of malnutrition. The vet said her hair would eventually grow out, but it will take time. She been through all of the medical checks, tests and behavior test. She is healthy, no issues and passed quarantine. But because of the look of bare hair on part of her skin, she kept getting passed by potential adopters.

A Ticket To Happiness adoption procedure:
We do require an application. Our process is that after you filled out our application questionnaire, we can schedule a day for you to come to our volunteer's home and meet with our dog(s). And feel free to bring anyone with you. After the initial meeting, if you like the dog and if we think you could be a good fit for him/her, Then you can start a trial adoption. Trial adoption means that we will arrange and take the dog over to your home and leave him/her with you for a few days to two weeks (we prefer not to go beyond two weeks). During the trial adoption period, at anytime, you can return the dog to us (no question ask). Only when you know for sure that you'd like to adopt the dog officially, then you will then need to sign an adoption agreement and pay for the adoption fee of $200. So prior to the official adoption, you don't need to pay the adoption fee. Thank you for opening up your heart and your home to a rescued dog.
Disclaimer:
We thank you for your interest in potentially adoption/rescuing our dogs. All of our rescued dogs are in foster family's homes, we do not have a facility or kennels. And we want to make sure our foster families and volunteers are safe (most likely you will be going to one of their homes to visit the dogs). That's why we asked for the application. We can provide all of the documentations you need to ensure you that we are a legit rescue. We want the best and the safest for the potential adopters, our volunteers and our dogs. Please note that we do not ask for any money at all upfront.
