My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

WINNIE (KENTUCKY)

10/29/2017: It's been almost a week since Winnie made the big trip all the way from Tennessee to Northern Kentucky, to her foster parent's home in Covington. She was very nervous and timid that first day, but has since gotten settled into her new home and has really started to come out of her shell.

Winnie did not respond to her original name from her previous home, so she was given a new name when she arrived to her foster home. Foster mom jokes that her real new name is Winnifred Louise (which is a big name for this tiny little girl) but calls her Winnie Lou or just Winnie for short. Winnie seems to really like her new name, because she already comes whenever you call her that!

Winnie is only 7 months old and is everything you would expect from a puppy. She is playful and snuggly, and is her foster parent's little shadow. We are currently working on potty training and have already seen improvements in the last week on her ability to hold it until she can go outside. Winnie definitely needs to gain some weight because she is very thin. She seems to struggle with dry kibble, so we've been softening her food with warm water and that seems to help. She does not like her crate very much, so we only crate her when absolutely necessary. She likes to sleep right with her people, and will then sleep all the way through the night! Her foster parents are amazed by this (and very grateful). Winnie is definitely a smart little girl, and has already learned a few simple commands like "sit," just within the last week!

Despite this, foster parents have noticed that Winnie is pretty timid. She doesn't like loud noises and really doesn't like to be surprised by anything. If her foster brother surprises her, she gets very snappy. Because of this, we are going to be limiting her adoption to homes without other dogs or children.

Winnie is up to date on all of her vaccinations and was recently spayed. She has a clean bill of health from the vet. Her adoption fee is $500. If you think you might be a good fit for Winnie, please email Foster mom @ keepcalmandyorkieon@gmail.com
