Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Delphine is the white 3+ pound spayed female Dwarf Lionhead/Jersey Wooley mix. She can be adopted alone, with Ivan and/or Penelope (or as a quintet with all "The Sneezies"), but should not go to a home with other rabbits or small mammals, as is the case with all five of "The Sneezies" because they have a contagious incurable respiratory infection.
"The Sneezies" were part of a hoarding rescue from NJ last year that came to us with respiratory infections. They can be adopted individually, as pairs, or a quintet, or as a pair and a trio (see below). One pair could be Kaya/Annika and the other pair would be Ivan/Delphine, with Penelope making a trio with either pair.
These buns have never completely cleared their infections and have some scarring in their nasal passages. Dust from their hay and pellets easily irritates their noses and sets them sneezing every day. They will have bouts where the sneezing worsens with more nasal discharge and need to receive medications (some by mouth, some injections, some via nebulization).
Ivan is the black 2+ pound neutered male Dwarf Lionhead/Jersey Wooley mix.
Kaya is the white and light brown 3+ pound spayed female Jersey Wooley mix (more brown).
Annika is the white and dark brown 2+ pound spayed female Jersey Wooley mix (more white).
Penelope is the speckled grey/agouti 7+ pound spayed female Champagne D'Argent mix.
The Sneezies vary in age from about 1-3yrs.
While sweet, they do not sit still to be pet but will let you hold them occasionally. They do not have good litter box habits, which doesn't help with trying to keep their pen and playroom clean or the dust down. They love to chew on rope and cardboard toys, to throw plastic stacking cups and roll balls around, and must have a bunch of hidey-huts available. Annika (the tiniest) is the boss of the group, chasing the others and keeping them in their place.
Annika and Kaya will need to be shaved as their fur matts, and Ivan and Delphine just need occasional clips of their fluffy manes.
These rabbits are up for adoption or looking for a longterm foster home. The home should have no other rabbits, guinea pigs, or chinchillas in it as the Sneezies can be contagious to new critters if they have a flare up.
If you're interested in adopting two, three, or five of the Sneezies, please fill out the application at http://www.friendsofrabbits.org/forms/form?verify=abc123&formid=3852 and email Friends of Rabbits at adoptions@friendsofrabbits.org and someone will call or email you to schedule a visit. Their adoption fee is partially subsidized by a generous gift from one of our members: one bunny will be $50, a pair will be $75, a trio will be $100, and the whole quintet of Sneezies will have a $145 adoption fee. (Normally the adoption rate is $90 for one and $150 for two.) If you'd like to donate to their continued medical care, please contact us for more information. The Sneezies are fostered in Laurel, MD.
Indoor homes only.
