Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Weighing in at 25 pounds is tubby tabby Hoover, who arrived at the shelter in mid October and is already a shelter favorite! He adores his volunteers, gets along with the other cats, tested well with dogs and would probably enjoy the company of children. Though most of us find chubby cats adorable, and he is a very large cat beyond his belly, Hoover will have to go on a strict diet in his new home to prevent any potential health issues associated with being overweight. Despite his size, he keeps himself pretty clean, but does have trouble grooming his own back, where he developed mats that the vet shaved off. But he loves to be brushed, so a little back-brushing a few times a week will not only make him a very happy boy, but will prevent him from getting mats again. He really is a darling kitty and though we all find his presence at the shelter so delightful, we really hope he finds his forever home soon, which will be key to him losing weight — getting out of a cage, and into a home where his diet can be managed better.
Hoover is box-trained, neutered, current on vaccinations, and tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia. Adoption fee for adult cats is $50 (cash or check only, please). For more information or an adoption application, email ClayvilleCritters@cox.net, call the shelter at (401) 647-7200, or visit the shelter during regular hours: Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri 7 to 11 a.m., Sat 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
