Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sad, sweet Hugo is a bit out of sorts since arriving at the shelter on 10/19/17. He seems so baffled at how he ended up living in a cage, and we're just as baffled, as he came in as a stray but clearly must have had a safe home and loving companion at some point -- though he was carrying around a few ticks, his coat is pretty clean and he's in relatively good health. When he is first let out of his cage each day, he immediately climbs the little kitty stairs up to the windowsill and cries low and plaintively for someone to come get him. He seems to be asking someone, "Where did you go? I'm here, don't you hear me?" It's so sad, really. He is very sweet with his human friends at the shelter, but he shies away from the other cats a bit, preferring to sit under or behind the cages until his volunteers have some Hugo time to spare. He did not test well with a dog -- he got very anxious and agitated, so a home without a dog is best for Hugo. He would probably make a gentle, loving companion to older children who might just want a cat to love, and not one that's very active and playful. You might note in his photos that he has a cloudy eye, which is usually the result of an untreated eye infection. There's nothing really to be done about it now, but it probably impairs his vision in that eye.
Hugo is estimated to be 7 years old, is box-trained, neutered, current on vaccinations, and tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia. Adoption fee for adult cats is $50 (cash or check only, please).
