Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Luca is an Staffordshire Bull Terrier / American Staffordshire Terrier whose first birthday we celebrated on March 3rd. Luca rides great in a car, he is mellow and easy when meeting new dogs and people, and, in general, we just can't say enough good things about this squat little man.
Luca loves his new life of cuddling & love from humans & dogs alike. He is in love with my husband and prefers to spend every possible second at his side. He doesn't mind being at my side if the Mr. isn't home. At bedtime, he prefers to sleep in the human bed with us, but he doesn't get upset if he instead sleeps on the sofa or doggie bed.
When he checked into Camp 10/23/08, the vet said he was anywhere from 6 to 8 months old. He was dealt a bad hand, being owned by irresponsible & cruel people who starved & abused him. Then, they tossed him out the truck window when nothing would change his sweet & submissive personality to be the monster they wanted. After Luca Brasi's first few months at Camp, his body & spirit have healed, & he weighs 58 lbs.
Luca is neutered, heartworm negative, current on vaccinations & heartworm & flea/tick preventatives, & housetrained. Oh, and, Luca is fearful of aggressive cats. His adoption fee is $150.
With his smarts, he knows how to wait for his walk if you don't have a doggie door. He is a puller on leash walks, but it's just because he's so excited & eager to be at your side. We use a pinch collar or a halty when it's walktime for him. We suggest training classes for him & you, but it's not because he's bad, but it will give him something fun & exciting to challenge & interest him.
All of the Camp Chaos dogs are indoor dogs with outdoor privileges. Please email captainchaos@campchaos37206.org for an application. Adoption fee is $125. Thank you for wanting to share your home with one of our rescued pups!
Staffordshire Bull Terrier Temperament (from Wikipedia, online encyclopedia)
Although individual differences in personality exist, there are some things that you can expect to find in the personality of every Stafford. From the past history of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, the modern dog draws its character of indomitable courage, high intelligence, and tenacity. This, coupled with its affection for its friends, and children in particular, its off-duty quietness and trustworthy stability, makes it a foremost all-purpose dog.
The breed has been nicknamed the "Nanny Dog" due to their unusual affinity and affection towards children.
The breed is naturally muscular and may appear intimidating; however, because of their natural fondness for people, most Staffords are temperamentally ill-suited for guard or attack-dog training.
The Staffordshire Bull Terrier appeared in the top 10 breeds most suitable for families and especially children in a report researched and published by Southampton University in 1996. This breed is highly intelligent, eager to please and very people friendly. It has a special empathy with children and it is for this it is best known. It adapts readily to most situations making it the foremost all purpose dog. Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppies are very easy to house train.
