Here's what the humans have to say about me:
I am Buck’s foster Mom. I have had the pleasure of fostering him for several months I call him the sweetest most wonderful foster dog ever. I decided to write the profile since Buck is too modest to talk about all his attributes. He just turned 5 years old and is one of the most beautiful and lovable Brittanys I have ever met. He is the perfect size weighting in at 42 lbs. His soulful eyes and cute freckles will melt your heart away.
He lives with our 2 young children and 2 senior Britts. They all get along very well. Buck is playful but knows his limits with the older dogs. He will make a wonderful family companion and playmate for a younger dog. He rarely barks unless someone comes to the door. He can sit, speak, shake and lay down on command. Sadly, his owner had to give Buck up after several job losses forced him to leave his home and move in with his in-laws. He was heartbroken when he had to give Buck up because he had raised and trained him from a pup.
The other complication with the owner was that Buck was diagnosed with a condition called Central Diabetes Insipidus in March 2008. The condition is rare and is caused by the inability of the kidneys to conserve water due to the lack of the production of the antidiuretic hormone (ADH). The result is frequent urination and excessive thirst. It can be controlled by medication or by providing the dog with access to unlimited water and access to the outside to potty. The owner had a dog door and fenced in yard so Buckwas able get the water he needed but when he moved in with the in-laws, he didn't have this setup to care for Buck and couldn’t afford the medication. He is now on a medicine called Desmopression and has responded wonderfully to it. The medicine has controlled his condition very well. I have been ordering the meds online so the cost is more reasonable. I am also investigating the more highly concentrated form of it as an injection to further reduce the cost per dose.
Buck is a perfectly normal dog in every other way, according to his vet there are no long term side affects to the condition. We love him so much and want to find him the right home. Please contact me, if you are interested in finding out more about this wonderful guy. Or if you can help with the cost of his medicine by being a Brittany Buddy, we would be thankful too.
