Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Foo Foo is a 2½ year old Terrier Dog mix. She's about 25 lbs, spayed and microchipped.
Foo Foo lost one eye and one leg through a tragic car accident. With a lot of people's help, she flew 6,000 miles from Taiwan to find her family in California.
Taiwan, the country that Foo Foo is from, is no safe haven for dogs. There are millions of strays in that small island and Foo Foo was one of them. When she was a puppy, Foo Foo was separated from her mommy. She was found on the street with a severe burn on her back. We don't know whether the burn was an accident or intentional. Foo Foo was sent to an overcrowded shelter. Luckily (or not....), as a smart and friendly puppy, Foo Foo was adopted shortly. The people who adopted her weren't interested in keeping her as a pet or for her to be part of their family; they wanted her to work as a factory guard dog. It was still a much better chance than staying in the shelter. No one knows what happened in that factory, but Foo Foo escaped from there in just a few days. Next thing we know, Foo Foo was hit by a car and sent to a hospital. The vet scanned her chip and notified the shelter. When the shelter contacted Foo Foo's adopters, they didn't want her anymore.
Foo Foo went back to the shelter after surgeries and treatments. With only one eye and three legs left, Foo Foo's chance to get adopted was close to zero. She was placed in a dingy, humid kennel with no window and terrible air-circulation. Foo Foo hated it there. After she fully recovered, she started escaping. She managed to jump over a 5' tall wall many times, and she mysteriously opened the gate and let out dozens of her fellow shelter mates. She is smart and resilient. To avoid more escape chaos, the shelter put Foo Foo in an enclosed cage 24/7. Foo Foo was miserable. She barked and paced and hit her nose against the cage until it bled. Foo Foo's volunteer couldn't see such a friendly young dog trapped in that cage forever, so she sent out an SOS message.
A group of volunteers decided to pull Foo Foo out of the shelter and prepare her for adoption in California. She was fostered in Taiwan for a month. She was great with people and other dogs. She appreciated her temporary home and never once tried to escape. On 9/22/2017, Foo Foo arrived at LAX.
She's been fostered in Los Angeles ever since. She's friendly with our kids and family dog. Foo Foo is extremely smart. She learned how to use a heavy pet door in three days and was 100% potty-trained in one week. She's leash-trained and crate-trained. Foo Foo is very food motivated and that makes it easy to train her. She's super sweet and doesn't bark, not exactly a guard dog material :p She also never tried to escape from our home. Foo Foo is submissive, never bite, never growl and never been aggressive at all. Foo Foo doesn't bark, doesn't whine, doesn't dig. She really is a good dog and she has been through so much.
Foo Foo has a tragic past, but she never gives in to the harshness in her life. She's traveled thousands of miles to find her family. Please share her story so her family will see her. A Ticket To Happiness adoption procedure:
We do require an application. Our process is that after you filled out our application questionnaire, we can schedule a day for you to come to our volunteer's home and meet with our dog(s). And feel free to bring anyone with you. After the initial meeting, if you like the dog and if we think you could be a good fit for him/her, Then you can start a trial adoption. Trial adoption means that we will arrange and take the dog over to your home and leave him/her with you for a few days to two weeks (we prefer not to go beyond two weeks). During the trial adoption period, at anytime, you can return the dog to us (no question ask). Only when you know for sure that you'd like to adopt the dog officially, then you will then need to sign an adoption agreement and pay for the adoption fee of $200. So prior to the official adoption, you don't need to pay the adoption fee. Thank you for opening up your heart and your home to a rescued dog.
Disclaimer:
We thank you for your interest in potentially adoption/rescuing our dogs. All of our rescued dogs are in foster family's homes, we do not have a facility or kennels. And since this is craigslist, we want to make sure our foster families and volunteers are safe (most likely you will be going to one of their homes to visit the dogs). That's why we asked for the application. We can provide all of the documentations you need to ensure you that we are a legit rescue. We want the best and the safest for the potential adopters, our volunteers and our dogs. Please note that we do not ask for any money at all upfront.
