My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DOB : 8-8-2017
Weight : 12.4lbs

Hi I'm Scarlet. I am one of a group of 10 puppies that are all named after a rock band called "The Grateful Dead". Our Foster mom says we are all Rock Stars.

Our mom was left abandoned and pregnant in Kentucky. Then rescue teams stepped in...and that is how we ended up coming to Illinois for a better life. Now we are all old enough to find our forever homes.

Hello. They call me Scarlet. I'm a fun, loving little girl who loves lots of activity. I am doing very well with commands and potty training. I can be demanding at times because I love to be by someone a lot. I will follow you around and be your closest friend forever. I'm looking for that life long commitment with someone who will work with me and teach me new tricks. I'm very smart and want to show you what true love really is. I also have done great with kids and cats. Can I find a permanent place to crash at your house?

I'd do best in a home where someone could be with me to continue my training and socialization skills. Also a fenced in yard would be a plus as I love to run around. If your gone more then a few hours a day please consider a teenager or older adult.

A JOURNEY HOME DOES NOT DO OUT-OF-STATE ADOPTIONS ON UNALTERED PUPPIES PLEASE READ OUR PROCESS BELOW BEFORE SENDING AN INQUIRY. THANK YOU!!

Thank you for your interest in adopting!

A Journey Home is a 501c3, all foster/volunteer based rescue. Our rescues are living with families in their homes. We do not have a shelter.
If you are interested in adopting, please visit www.ajourneyhomedogrescue.org to request an application. After your application has been received and given a preliminary approval, you will be contacted by an adoption coordinator who will conduct a phone interview. Final approval will be granted following a successful meet and greet with the entire family. Adopter must be at least 21 yrs old.

A Journey Home does not do out-of-state adoptions on unaltered puppies. Spay/neuter surgery is not done on puppies under 6 months of age. If adopting a puppy under the age of 6 months, we require that the adopter schedules the spay/neuter at our participating vet clinic when age appropriate.

Our standard adoption fee is $300, payable by cash or check. The fee includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative, a free vet visit at one of our participating clinics, and micro-chipping.

First time pet owners will be required to sign up for a puppy/training class at a place of their choice. There will be an additional $50 added to your adoption fee, which will be refunded to you upon proof the class was completed.

Please note that breed and size are our best guesses, while ages are estimated by our vets and are not guaranteed.

PLEASE consider becoming a foster home, and find out how rewarding it can be! A Journey Home provides basic needs, including medical expenses at our participating clinics located in Wheaton, Naperville, and Geneva. You supply the love! High kill shelters are overcrowded with dogs and puppies that need our help. More fosters on our team means we can save more lives! For more information or for a foster application please email ajourneyhomedogrescue@gmail.com .
