Well Hello there! I am Skyrah, Skyrah the courageous pup! At least that's what they call me. My rescue family call me courageous because I was left to die in a small, concrete kennel for a month with a broken leg in North Carolina!!!! They say I am lucky that the shelter staff forgot me because I otherwise would have been euthanized or had my leg amputated but considering my buddies went to the back room and never came back out I think I would have been euthanized. Luckily, a volunteer snuck to the back of the shelter, found me, snapped pictures and started sharing my story all over social media. My story got so much publicity the local sheriff's investigator became involved to try and help more dogs like me... the forgotten. Luckily, through social media everyone worked hard to save me and get me out. A driver volunteered her time drove me all the way to Tompkins County from down South. She drove me right to Cornell University hospital, where staff and rescue volunteers waited to help me start to my road to recovery. The staff was great and since I couldn't walk, they took me by gurney to get immediate care. They helped stabilized me to prepare me for immediate surgery the next day. Well here I am now.... I am a friendly, smart wiggly pup but I am a bit shy at first in new situations (with all the abuse I had to endure while at the shelter) and am learning to be more confident. I am looking for my perfect forever family and I need you to already have a dog in your home so I can build my confidence from him/her!!! I am excitingly waiting to find my furever home with a patient, wonderful family that will love me always and keep me safe. I love to play with other dogs and have lots of puppy "wrestle" sessions! I want to be home and be able to go rompin' around my very own yard smelling the pretty spring flowers! And of course, like any good pup, I am sooooo ready to learn to doggy paddle - can you teach me??!! My dream would be long walks sniffing along, hiking, peanut butter kongs and a cozy bed to curl up with my new brother or sister - I don't mind sharing with you either! My foster mom says " Skyrah started off very shy, but has improved tremendously. Skyrah is confident but sometimes cautious in unfamiliar environments. I started to take her to new unfamiliar places today and she is doing great. Skyrah will need a second dog and a home without small kids (no kids under 10 years old), to reduce the chance of her accidentally slipping out a door and fear of sudden loud noises. Skyrah is such a sweet lovable puppy and just wants to please so she will learn quickly from her new doggie brother or sister and blossom with patience and training into a wonderful pup" So what in the name of milkbones are you waiting for....fill out the application and submit it already! I am trying to wait patiently...wiggle...wiggle...wiggle! If interested please go to http\://www.thereshopedogrescue.org/adoption-form/
