If you be my star, I’ll be your Skye...
We pulled this gorgeous Husky/Shepherd mix from the East Valley Animal shelter where she came in as a stray. She’s now almost 2-years-old and on The Rescue Train with a one-way ticket to your heart! Skye has super model looks and is extremely smart. She has a sweet and solid temperament. She’s a show stopper and gets a lot of attention where ever she goes.
We’ve had the luck to have her fostered by a certified professional dog trainer so we have a lot of insight to this spectacular dog. Skye has a lot of energy and is strong (huskies are bred to pull sleds). She needs an active person who has the time and effort to work with her at this young age and provide lots of positive reinforcement.
She would make a great running or hiking partner. She would be a blast to do agility training or nose works with. She is extremely intelligent which makes training fun. Nothing makes her happier than to be told she’s a good girl!
Skye is very sweet with people. Sometimes she doesn’t know her own size and tries to be a lap dog which we are working on in her training. She’s a big kisser. Although she doesn’t have a mean bone in her body she would not be the best match for small children as she could knock them over.
Skye would do best in a home with a playful male dog close to her size (60lbs) and age and that's what we are looking for to set her up for success. Skye gets along with dogs and even dog savvy cats but she wants to PLAY, PLAY, PLAY! She can be too rambunctious for smaller or senior animals.
We are looking for an owner that has had experience with large breed dogs and understands drawing boundaries for an animal in a positive and communicative way. She is crate trained and her new family must be willing to use this tool to give her structure and then gradual freedom. She will need a secure yard.
Skye has all the makings of a perfect dog in the right home. She’s a volunteer favorite. We all see how special she is on The Rescue Train!
She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.
