My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**3/8/20 - ADOPTION PENDING!**

Note: The first photo was taken February, 2020, the others are from August, 2017.

Arthur started out as a stray at a shelter in northern California in the summer of 2017. He was adopted from us in September of 2017 and then returned to us in January, 2020. The reason? Retirement and now the family will be traveling. Yes, you read that right.

Arthur is now approximately 6 years of age. His optimal weight is about 80 pounds. When he was returned to us he was about 20 pounds overweight and we are working on slimming him down slowly to his goal weight.

Someone will be very lucky to share their life with this handsome German shepherd dog. He has a wonderful temperament and good house manners.

Arthur loves all people and gets along well with most other dogs. He would probably live most harmoniously in a home with a female dog (or dogs). **Arthur is good with cats and lived with several cats previous to coming back into foster care with IDAWG.**

He is crate trained and housetrained. He can jump a 4 foot fence so cannot be left alone outside or he may come looking for you!

He does not bark excessively and rides well in the car in his crate. Arthur enjoys being close with his foster family. He runs big while outside, but settles nicely in the house. Arthur has been through a basic obedience class, but needs some work on leash walking. He likes to pull at first.

When Arthur came back to us we noticed he has a slight limp. We took him to the vet where he had a complete exam and xrays taken. He was diagnosed with arthritis of the right hip. Getting to his goal weight will help and we are also starting him on a joint supplement. It's recommended that the joint supplement be continued daily for his comfort. Please note: his arthritis does not slow him down. He loves to run.

Arthur's adoption fee is $250 and includes neuter, vaccinations, microchip, collar and ID tag.
