Danny has been adopted. He is no longer available.
Little Danny was found alone in West Columbus in late July during a rainy spell when he was about a week old. After waiting two days hoping the mother would find him, kind people took him in and started calling rescues and shelters. As usual, Nature's Gifts was the only place that would take a baby that young. Danny is a tough little fellow to have survived outside for over two days of constant rain when he was so young. Kittens that age need to be kept at 80 degrees because they cannot yet generate their own warmth.
Danny has had lots of loving care since then. Bottle babies like him are often much more affectionate as adults because the only mother that they remember is a two-legged human. As with many bottle babies, Danny loves to climb your shoulder and cuddle around your neck, while kissing your cheek and occasionally giving an ear a nibble. When I bend over to pick something up, he's on my back then my shoulder. When he takes time to stop playing, he gets near your face to kiss noses and lips. He also often lies in your arms like a two-legged infant, as in the fourth picture. He is very comfortable with the only dog he has ever know, my toy poodle. I have seen him go up to her to kiss her mouth. When he gets tired playing, he comes to cuddle against me or my dog, or both if he can.
Danny wants a playmate. He prefers to run and play most of the time (with an occasional break to kiss me or my dog or a rest to cuddle). He is very affectionate to other animals. He would not care if his playmate were a cat or dog, but he needs to play. He is active, alert, and often funny in his cute antics. He is a brave little guy. Before the last spring kitten went to her new home, Danny was so tiny that he was only 1/4 her size, but he would challenge her to play.
Another characteristic that stands out in Danny is that he is very good-natured. If he does not get what he wants, he chooses something else.
Danny is also very loyal, like a puppy. He is never very far away from me. He follows me from room to room.
Potential adoptive parents are carefully screened! We need to check vet references.
Please email, including your phone number, or call. Include ages and descriptions of everyone in the household, including both 2- and 4-legged children. We also need to know who would care for the kitten if you are no longer able to keep him. I try to return emails and calls immediately, if possible. If I have missed contacting you, please call or email again.
Danny will be available around the first week in November. He was just neutered. His adoption fee is $90, and that includes all medical bills (neutering, aids testing, shots, worming, flea-treatment).
We are also asking kind people who view Danny's information to read about a younger kitten who will need a home, and who needs help right now.
