My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Louie came to Circle of Hope from a Connecticut shelter in mid June. He'd been living on the streets with a homeless man, and it doesn't seem he was treated well even before that. He was so terrified at the pound that no one could touch him. They staff didn't even check to see if he was actually a he!!

Then, his foster mom rescued him. No matter what vicious show Louie put on, she loved on him and gave him treats. The more he growled, the more she smiled and laughed. She knew he was mostly talk and show. He hopped in her car for the ride home, and she continued to touch Louie, talk to him, and let him know he was safe!

Over the next 3 weeks his foster mom picked ticks off him, gave him a bath and a hair cut, treated him to car rides, introduced him to the other dogs and cats, and gave him lots of treats and love.

Louie's foster mom spends a lot of time taking him places to meet new people. He's slowly learning that that routine is just as safe as laying in her lap and getting his belly rubbed at home. He loves squeaky toys and playing with her. He's learning other dogs aren't bad, but he likes small, older female dogs best. He'll chase off the cat during the day, but doesn't fuss when the cat sleeps in bed with everyone at night.

At 6 pounds and around 5 years old, Louie is looking for a special, quiet family that will show him what being loved forever really means.
